Homeschool Summer Fun

Six parks in southern Wisconsin, including playgrounds, a zoo, and lakes!

Parks In Southern Wisconsin

Our local homeschool group loves to take advantage of the nice weather months and have get togethers at local parks, State parks, and beaches. It’s a great way to make sure we don’t squander away those nice days of fresh air and hot summer sun. Plus, the kids get to play and the moms get to visit as well. Here are some of the highlights of things we have done, right here in southern Wisconsin.

Parks in Southern Wisconsin

Riverfront Park, Jefferson, WI

Our group set aside time on a Friday night for a family potluck. Fathers often miss out on most of the homeschool gatherings. My husband was working so he couldn’t make it. The girls were a little upset when they saw the other dads, but they managed to have a good time! The large park includes a Playland of Dreams which is a “Fully accessible  playground in the 19-acre Riverfront Park for preschoolers through elementary ages (2-12 years).” It’s one of my favorite parks in the area. read more

“The Maple Syrup Factory”

Every Thursday, I share a little bit about our homeschool life. Interested in why we are homeschooling? Click here. Want to know about our home preschool curriculum? Click here. Any other questions? Ask away. I would love to hear from you 🙂

This past Saturday our whole family attended the Maple Syrup Festival held at the DNR’s MacKenzie Center near Poynette, Wisconsin. Over couples weekend our good friend Katie recommended the MacKenzie Center to see a maple syrup demonstration. Her best friend lives in our area of Wisconsin and this where she takes her 2 kids, plus her students. The MacKenzie Center is a nature education center “with trails, exhibits, museums and programming available for school and youth groups. MacKenzie is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the natural world. The State Game Farm is connected to the MacKenzie Center and is adjacent to the arboretum on the western half of the property.” read more

Fall Field Trips in Wisconsin

Five fun, fall field trips in Wisconsin for homeschoolers.

Fall Field Trips in Wisconsin

Fall in Wisconsin is totally gorgeous. The air cools down, the leave change, and best of all, the kids go back to school!! I can not tell you how much homeschoolers rejoice when the kids are back in school. Museums, parks, and stores all to ourselves. It’s glorious. Par of our homeschool curriculum include going on field trips. Today I am going to share with you five fall field trips in Wisconsin.

Even though we missed a couple of activities we more than made up for it with our park days and open gyms with our local homeschooling group. The girls are one of the youngest ones but they have so much fun and all the kids and moms are so super nice. And totally normal!! I met a fellow homeschooling mom on Instagram this week, and it really is amazing how normal homeschooling families are. And Fofo’s gymnastics class was an awesome experience too, but I am posting enough photos today so all her gymnastics info is for another day. read more
