I am a self proclaimed TV addict. I love to decompress with a cocktail and good tv show (and some not so good ones). One of the shows I am (almost) ashamed to admit I adore is Friends. Insert cheer or groan here. People either love it or hate it. I happen to be on the love side. What I love most are the Thanksgiving episodes. And one of my favorite things to do around Thanksgiving is to watch them all. This isn’t a stock photo. I own all these DVDs.
When I started thinking about what I was going to write for this post, I didn’t really know where I was going with it. I went through all 10 Thanksgiving episodes in my head: mocklate, Chandler in the box, the football game, naming all 50 states, the flashback Thanksgivings. So many good episodes and funny lines. The episode I kept coming back to was “The One with the Rumor” which guest starts Brad Pitt. In case you have forgotten, Brad Pitt used to be married to Jennifer Aniston. It was Brad and Jen before Brangelina. I am personally not Team Jen or Team Angie. They are all adults and it’s not really my business how Brad and Angie got together. Moving on.
I am a huge Brad Pitt fan and I remember the hype up to the episode. Brad on Friends?!? How is this going to play out?!? Maybe I am a fool but I was surprised (Spoiler alert) that Brad’s character, Will, hated Jen’s character, Rachel.
On the other hand, Phoebe was the one who was smitten by Will.
While Chandler expressed the feeling we all have when next to an outrageous attractive person.
I have always said that Brad Pitt is a great comedic actor. He is known for dramas (and abs) but he can delivery a god damn funny line.
Of course, the cast of Friends got some great one-liners in there as well.
I have two favorite screen grabs that always make me laugh. Pheobe hugging Will because we all wanna know what it’s like to hug Brad Pitt.
And when the audience first realizes how much Will really hates Rachel.
I am not saying this episode is the most fantastic episode of Thanksgiving ever on television. It just happens to be my favorite. Don’t forget Roseanne has some great Thanksgiving episodes too. And who could forget about Dutch, a hilarious movie with Ed O’Neil that you sometimes forget is about Thanksgiving. And arguably greatest Thanksgiving movie of all time: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Holy fuck if this doesn’t make you laugh, I don’t want to know you. This is a movie my whole family quotes over Thanksgiving. “Those aren’t pillows!” “I like me. My wife likes me.” “YOU’RE GOING THE WRONG DIRECTION!!” “My casio.” If you, all these lines, then we can be friends 🙂
