“Married and bored, or single and lonely.”

“Married and bored or single and lonely:” how humor in marriage is great marriage advice.

Marriage advice and marriage humor go hand-in-hand. You need a sense of humor in marriage. Chris Rock sums it up: Married and bored or single and lonely.

I have always had odd choices in role models. I loved “Pistol” Pete Maravich as a kid. Kurt Cobain in high school. Chris Rock in my 20s. And Gavin McInnes in my 30s, which is a story for another day 😉 The first time I saw Chris Rock’s comedy, I was blown away. It was raw, vulgar, and honest. Chris ain’t afraid to say anything! Guns, race, women, he covers it all. But I love his views on marriage. In fact, you could say, everything I know about marriage I learned from Chris Rock. read more

My husband is my biggest supporter. I wouldn’t be able to do any of this, homeschooling, blogging, housewifery, without his financial and emotional support and encouragement. He is my best friend, and it’s important for us, and our marriage, that we stay connected.

However, we live life on a budget and getting a babysitter isn’t always an option. Date nights at home are lifesaver for us. We have a standing date on Friday’s for brandy old fashioneds and juicy gossip! We also love pizza and comedy night and other fun, theme date nights at home. read more

Date Night at Home

Date night at home can be as simple as a steak dinner!

Date Night at Home

Marriage is more than anniversaries and special dates. It’s the small moments you create in your day-to-day life. But no matter how many “I love you’s,” notes in the lunch box, special texts throughout the day, and kisses before work, parents need a date night.

However, for some families going out to a nice restaurant isn’t always possible. Between finances and child care, it’s a hit or miss situation. Or if you are like me, it’s less stressful to wait til the kids are in bed and make a nice dinner yourself. Or even better, when the kids are away for the weekend!! read more

Happy Birthday Hot Stuff!!

Ok, so I totally stole this idea from Ree Drummond, aka Pioneer Woman, in her birthday tribute to her husband last week. One thing I love so much about the Drummond’s is their love, admiration, and respect for each other. As I have been cleaning out Aperture, our photo storage program (it has been bogged down with numerous duplicate photos. Don’t ask. It’s a long story.) I have come across so many photos of our life together, 16 years (11 of them married), and I wanted to show my love, admiration, and respect for my husband. Happy Birthday hot stuff!! read more

Honest Marriage Advice for Women

Honest marriage advice on how to be a better wife.

Marriage Advice

October 19th is our wedding anniversary (yay us!). I have been hesitant to actually publish this post for about 36 hours. I wonder if this marriage advice is too crude, real, or honest. I have many ideas on what it takes to make a marriage work. I do not, by any means, know everything about marriage, but I hate clicking on Pinterest links with marriage advice which are either written by people who have been married for two years or offer vague horse shit advice.  At this point in my life (2017) I have been with my husband for more than half of my life. Married 15 years, and living together for 16. I want to offer, shall we say, honest marriage advice to other women or soon to be married women on how to be a better wife. read more
