If I miss one thing about my life with my husband before kids, it’s going out to dinner. I know, I know, we should get a sitter so we can have weekly date nights and connect as a couple. But if you are anything like me, it’s just not that simple. Good child care is expensive, finding someone you trust to watch your kids is difficult, and by the time you get it all lined up, you are too tired to go out anyway!
That is why my husband and I LOVE at-home date nights! No worrying about a babysitter, no expensive meal that you might not even like, and no worrying about driving home after cocktails. And that is the key to making at-home date night extra special: cocktails!
I’m not talking about your usual wine and scotch. I’m talking about taking the time to plan a special after dinner drink for you and your husband to enjoy together. You don’t have to go buy a bunch of new booze, just take a look at what you have on hand and whip something up.
To help you out, I have 20 cocktail recipes that are perfect for date night!
Cocktails for Date Night
Brandy old fashioned
The Brandy Old Fashioned is the unofficial cocktail of Wisconsin! Brandy is used in place of the traditional whiskey. In fact, Wisconsinites are quite passionate about the “correct” way to make a brandy old fashioned and don’t let just anyone make them one. I like mine on the sweet side and it has gotten the stamp of approval from friends in Wisconsin and beyond!

Moscow Mules
Moscow mules are a fantastic date night drink because each brand of ginger beer brings something different to the classic cocktail. My husband and I tested a wide variety of ginger beers and found the perfect one! Vodka, lots of lime, the perfect ginger beer, and the must-have cooper mugs make for a refreshing drink for a night in.

Ginger Mojito
I love giving classic cocktails a little bit of a twist AND I love the ginger soda Vernors. If you are Parks and Rec fan you have probably seen a can or two in the background. It’s not ginger ale and it’s not ginger beer, it’s ginger SODA and it’s so amazing in any cocktail that calls for ginger ale. The ginger mojito still has the classic mint and lime flavor but with a little more kick!

Peach Cobbler Cocktail
A cocktail that tastes like the dessert peach cobbler?! Say it isn’t so! Actually, yes. Please say it is so. BECAUSE IT IS!! Combine homemade peach iced tea (don’t worry, it’s super easy) with vodka and lime and I kid you not, it tastes just like a peach cobbler!!

Fizzy Navel
I LOVE bubbles in my cocktails, and I love screwdrivers so naturally I had to find a to combine the two. And my source was probably in the last place you would look: sparkling water! Tangerine/mango sparkling water to be precise. Sometimes combining two simple things can produce a wonderful, new cocktail!
